Solving data challenges for growing companies

Currently accepting new data projects

I have 2–3 spots available for companies who have data challenges they need solved.

About Me

Bio

I’m a data engineer and scientist with 10+ years building scalable systems. Previously, I was Head of Engineering at Podchaser (acquired 2022), where I built data pipelines processing 100+ million podcast episodes and led a team of 12 engineers and data scientists. Before that, I founded two products—Quiz And Survey Master and SiteAlert—both used on 10,000+ websites before acquisition.

Today, I help growing SaaS companies build complete data solutions—from analysis through production infrastructure. I’m certified in AWS, Snowflake, Tableau, Databricks, and Terraform, and I combine deep technical expertise in data pipelines and machine learning with business and product experience.

Outside of Work

I’m not just about data and code. I recently earned my black belt in Taekwondo, I’ve run three 5K races and am currently training for my first 10K, and I play violin. I’m also studying biology—partly because it’s fascinating, partly because that foundational knowledge serves me well when working with health and biotech companies.

When I’m not analyzing data or building software, you’ll find me working on hobby projects like my small video games at Whivio Studios.

The Journey

My Xbox game called "A Game of Hockey"

I started web development mostly by accident in 2009. I wanted to make an Xbox 360 game, so I taught myself C# and XNA framework. The result was “A Game of Hockey”—basically Pong with four paddles and plenty of bugs. It was terrible, but it showed me how fun it was to create software. (I recently recreated it if you want to see just how bad it was 😅.)

That game needed a website, which led me to WordPress and eventually freelance web development. I built increasingly complex sites, learned PHP and JavaScript, and started creating WordPress plugins. One of them—Quiz And Survey Master—took off and became my main focus for several years. Working with surveys and user data is actually what drew me deeper into data analysis and engineering. After selling that product, I built SiteAlert, which monitored websites for security issues and introduced me to large-scale data collection across thousands of sites.

These experiences led me to engineering leadership roles at companies like Podchaser, where I scaled systems to handle hundreds of millions of podcast episodes, and Cayuse, where I was a Technical Lead. Along the way, I completed my Associate’s degree with a focus on biotechnology foundational classes (integral calculus, chemistry, biology, statistics) and earned Udacity’s Deep Learning Nanodegree. Today, I combine all of this experience—scaling products, managing massive datasets, leading teams, and building ML systems—to help businesses build their own data infrastructure and models.

Ready to Work Together?

I currently have a few openings for new client engagements. If you’re dealing with scattered data, need help building pipelines, or want to implement ML but aren’t sure where to start, let’s talk about your project.

Or see examples of my data work to get a sense of what I can do.
